Mantra for Mental Strength

Creating and reciting a mantra is a great actionable tactic to improve mental strength on a daily basis. You can easily create a mantra by following the four-part structure detailed below.

What is a mantra? A mantra is a phrase (typically short, concise and memorizable) that you can recite to yourself regularly to validate, motivate, and support yourself through life's inevitable adversities or every day. By doing so, you can reinforce self-worth, self-love, self-compassion and ultimately your emotional resilience and mental strength.

Review the format and samples and then make your own.

Part 1: Practice mindfulness, or being present in the moment. Mindfulness helps you collect your thoughts and maintain a more calm, accepting demeanor. Here are some examples:
    “Today is a new day”
“I am present in the here and now”

Part 2: Empower yourself and demonstrate self-compassion. By showing yourself self-compassion, you are giving yourself the patience, encouragement and empowerment needed to handle difficulties or stressors in life. Here are some examples:
“I am strong and ready for the day ahead”
“I can overcome any struggles I may face”

Part 3: Remind yourself of your self-worth. Validating that you deserve positive experiences in life helps foster a more positive attitude and drives positive choices. Here are some examples:
    “I deserve happiness and joy”
“I am worthy of love and success”
Part 3: Conclude with an enthusiastic call-to-action. Create a slogan-like phrase to send you off on the rest of your day with energy and empowerment. Here are some examples:
    “Let’s do this!”
    “Go get ‘em!”

Use the samples or write your own 4-part mantra to motivate you and build your mental strength. You can speak your mantra while looking at yourself in the mirror or whisper it to yourself on your way to work. You can repeat it over and over, or say it once and move on. It is all based on your comfort!
